Fly With Me

Flying has always been something I’ve enjoyed. I love the feeling of packing my bags and driving to the airport, I feel giddy when my passport earns another stamp, and I adore the whoosh feeling of the plane taking off and suddenly, you’re sailing through the clouds towards a sometimes new, distant place.

Okay, so sometimes that place was Phoenix or Canada, but it was distant enough!

This summer after the Summer Language Institute (SLI), a friend from church will be joining me in Europe for a four week long excursion. We just booked all our flights and we’ll be traveling to Bosnia-Herzegovina, France, England, Scotland, and Ireland. After Ireland, we part ways as I join my parents in Denmark and then I’ll fly back to Lithuania for orientation and Fall semester!

See, I say I love flying now, but ask me again after I’ve had to remove my shoes a dozen times and have to try to work with multiple airline regulations for luggage. I’ve never been a light packer, so this should be interesting.

In other study abroad related news, I planned out my courses and am in the process of Visa paperwork so I can actually stay in Lithuania. I also ordered my Baltic travel book, so I can learn a little more about the beautiful region where I’m going to be living for five months!

So you say you don’t know what Lithuania looks like? Well, here are some photos!

As for now, I can only research these cities and look at pictures and read blogs, but I am so excited to be in this new, distant country! Only 93 more days!! Well, that’s until I leave. Then I have a layover in Iceland and Denmark, and then Lithuania. So more like 95 days. In any case, much sooner than it feels.

Anyway, I better go to sleep or else I’ll be exhausted at work tomorrow.

Until more study abroad news,

– Kate
